Free Commodity Webinar with Dhan (21 Oct): What We'll Teach
This Wednesday, 21 October 2026, Dhan and our academy are teaching together live on Zoom at 8:00 PM IST. It's free, and it's for our own community of learners.
Mentor Aditya Jain puts it simply: "100% learning, no sales pitch". You'll get "Real, practical points to learn and start commodity trading with low capital".
What the session covers
The webinar covers five topics: the basics, key contracts, price drivers, risk management, and how to trade commodities on Dhan. You can ask your own questions live.
Below is a short preview so you arrive with the right foundation.
What moves Crude Oil, Natural Gas, Gold and Silver
Every commodity has its own story. Once you know what drives it, the chart starts to make sense.
Crude Oil reacts to supply. Weekly inventory reports show whether stocks are building or falling, and production decisions by OPEC-type groups can shift supply expectations quickly. Our crude oil inventory guide goes deeper into those weekly numbers.
Natural Gas is driven a lot by weather and storage. A colder winter or a hotter summer changes demand, and the weekly storage numbers show how much buffer the market has.
Gold often moves with the US dollar and interest rates. A stronger dollar or higher rates often pull gold down a bit. In uncertain times, safe-haven demand can support it.
Silver follows gold in many ways, but it also has strong industrial demand, from electronics to solar panels. That is why silver can move faster and more sharply than gold.
MCX contract basics
Before placing any trade on MCX, understand the contract you are trading. Four things matter most:
Lot size: how much of the commodity one contract represents.
Expiry: the date on which the contract ends.
Margin: the amount blocked to take the position.
Tick size: the smallest price move, and its value per lot.
MCX revises these numbers now and then, and your broker shows the latest ones, so check there before you trade. Totally new to this? Read our commodity market basics for beginners first.
Small capital, clear plan
Lots of our students begin with a small amount, and that's fine. The part people skip is writing the plan down before they enter.
Here's the order we teach:
First, fix how much you can lose on this one trade, in rupees.
Mark your exit level on the chart, the price where your idea is clearly wrong.
Calculate your lots from that exit. Divide your risk amount by the loss per lot between entry and exit. If even one lot is too large, skip the trade.
Use smaller contracts where available. Several commodities have mini or smaller contracts, which let you follow the same plan with a smaller position.
This habit keeps your decisions calm and your learning steady.
